PARISH COUNCIL MEETING

Call to Order:
The Parish Council Meeting was called to order at 5:40 p.m. by Vice-President, Karen Kain.
Members Present:
John Batsakis, Dwight Demitz, Karen Kain, Doug Partlo, Dennis Stavros, Katerina Stavros, Bob
Underwood and Judy Weston.
Opening Prayer:
Father Iakovos led the assembled in the opening prayer.
Update to Members:
Karen Kain gave the assembled an update on the hospitalization of our Parish Council President,
Harriet Rennie.
Approval of the Minutes:
A motion by Dennis Stavros, seconded by Doug Partlo to accept the minutes as presented.
Motion passed unanimously.
Reports for General Assembly:
The progress of various reports to be presented to the members at the General Assembly were
reported. They included: Father Iakovos - the first three months and plans for the future; Doug
Partlo - the budget; Bob Underwood - the Taste of Greece; and Dennis Stavros - the choir.
Choir Report:
Dennis Stavros reported that the choir is working on the Takis music that we will using. The
music is free over the internet but it will necessary for us to have it printed in booklet form. A
motion by Doug Partlo, seconded by Dennis Stavros to authorize Father Iakovos to have the
books printed for a cost of $7.00 each. This will enable the assembled congregation to
participate. Motion passed unanimously.
Stewardship Chair:
It will be necessary to appoint a new stewardship chair for the calendar year 2008. Some of the
names that were suggested were Martha Ealy, Stephanie Long, or Roger Dunlap. We will
discuss this with the candidates.
New Tables:
The round tables that we currently are using for our coffee hour were discussed. It was the
consensus that they are to large for our present facility. A motion by John Batsakis, seconded by
Bob Underwood to purchase two 8 ft. rectangular tables from Sams’ for $99.00 each. Motion
passed unanimously. We will attempt to store the larger round tables.
Iconostasis:
Father Iakovos reported that Ray Ealy and Randy Kain are currently working on the plans for an
Iconostasis. Bob Underwood and Doug Partlo will talk to the landlord to see if we can secure the
Iconostasis someway in the facility. Also, to be mentioned to the landlord is if it would be
possible to carpet the facility and if he would donate to this.
Bank Accounts:
A motion by Bob Underwood, seconded by Doug Partlo to add Karen Kain as a signature on all
of our accounts. Motion passed unanimously.
Closing Prayer:
Father Iakovos led the assembled in the closing prayer and the meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
