Call to Order:
Vice-President, Karen Kain called the meeting to order at 5:40 p.m.

Members Present:

Stavros, and Judy Weston. Also, present were newly elected for 2008 Parish Council members
Helen Knapp and Theresa Paterson.

Opening Prayer:
Father Iakovos led the assembled in the opening prayer.

Approval of the Minutes:
A motion by John Batsakis, seconded by Doug Partlo to accept the minutes of the November 14,
2007 meeting as presented. Motion passed unanimously.

Opening Statements:
Father Iakovos started the meeting by reading a letter to departing members Dwight Demitz, Dennis
and Katerina Stavros and recently resigned member Dr. Chuck Bethea. Father thanked them for
their hard work over the years and presented them with a token gift from our book store.

Parting Statement by Dennis Stavros:
Dennis Stavros thanked the board on behalf of those not present and charged the 2008 Parish
Council to continue the work of building our Orthodox community in the Grand Traverse area. He
suggested that we put more effort into building stewardship and recruiting new members.

Budget Report:
Doug Partlo presented the proposed 2008 budget thus far. Discussion followed. It was suggested
that we have a category for “advertisement” and the raise the dollar amounts on some line items.

Lease Report:
The lease for our current location will be signed this week.

Loukamathes Machine:
John Batsakis discussed the possibility of accepting the loukamathes machine from Lansing. He
would like to know the present condition of the machine. We will also have to find a place to store
this machine if we accept it. He has done some preliminary investigation in the possible use for this
machine. It would cost $150 for a permit to sell loukamates at the six Friday Night Live events and
$200 to participate in the street sale in the summer in Traverse City. He feels that it may be possible
to make a profit with this machine and would volunteer his time to do this. He will keep the council
informed.

Stewardship Report:
Karen Kain reported that the Stewardship campaign will kick off when the 2008 budget is complete.

Carpet Installation:
The carpet will be installed December 27, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. by Randy Kain. All that can help,
please come.

Bank Accounts at Huntington Bank:
A motion by Doug Partlo, seconded by John Batsakis to close the remaining accounts at Huntington
Bank. Motion passed unanimously.

Father Fred Activities:
Fr. Iakovos reported that we are currently helping with the Father Fred Foundation in their drive for
Christmas. Since we are small at this time, it is helpful to be represented in the community with an
alliance with Fr. Tome and the Father Fred Foundation.

St. Joseph’s Church in Mapleton:
John Batsakis reported that he had received a phone call telling us about the possibility of leasing
the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mapleton (11 miles from Traverse City) in a few years. They
have purchased land and plan to build.

Brokerage Account:
Father Iakovos reported that we have set up an brokerage account at National City Bank to accept
any stocks that people may want to present to the church.

Closing Prayer:
Father Iakovos led the assembled in the closing prayer and the meeting adjourned at 7:10 p.m.

Judith Weston
