John Batsakis reported that he is still investigating the proposed gift of the loukamathes machine from Holy Trinity Church in Lansing. If everything is satisfactory, John will pickup and store this machine. He will also take charge of any events that we may participate in as a fund raiser.

2008 Budget Report:
Doug Partlo presented the proposed budget. In summary, a conservative budget for the this year would be $120,000. Discussion followed. The dollar amount will give all a look at the cost of running a full time parish with a priest assigned. A motion by John Batasakis, seconded by Karen Kain to accepted the 2008 budget via the internet on 1-17-08. Motion passed with 8 votes affirmative and 2 abstentions.

Stewardship:
Karen Kain read the proposed letter to be sent to all the current members. Some suggestions were made and agreed upon. Roger Dunlap had previous expressed an offer to led this effort but with the duties of the Book Store proving to be more time consuming, he has decided not to accept this nomination if offered. Dennis Stavros and Helen Dalbo have stepped forward and volunteered. After much discussion, it was felt that Helen Dalbo would be a good candidate for this appointment as she was retired and had the time that it take to devote to this cause. She will be responsible for the monitoring of this fund and reporting back to the Parish Council. She will follow the guidelines as set forth by the Archdioceses. A motion by Karen Kain, seconded by Helen Knapp to appoint Helen Dalbo as Stewardship Chair for the calendar year of 2008 via the internet on 1-17-08.
Motion passed with 8 votes affirmative and 2 abstentions.

Report from Father:
Father reported that he was very encouraged by the level of participation that he has experience thus far. He was led to believe that the winter months would be sparse in attendance but has found that it is not true. He is very encouraged. The friends of the Metropolis campaign was beautifully run and Traverse City was well represented.

Sign:
Karen Kain reported that our sign is now on the marquee in front of the building. The cost was $75, taken out of the capital fund and approved by the Parish Council via the internet.

Purchase of Icons for the Walls:
Many would like to see the walls in our building adorned with the proper icons. Free hung icons can be
purchased from the seminary near Port Huron for a cost of $250 each for a 2' X 3' icon. It was decided to give parishioners a change to purchase an icon separate from their stewardship. The pictures of the icons would be presented to the Parish Council, approved upon, sent the Archdiocese for approval. We would than purchase any that were not spoken for a cost of $250 each. A motion by Doug Partlo, seconded by Stephanie Long to set aside not more than $2,000 in the capital fund to defray any costs. Motion passed unanimously.

Rent for Coffee Room:
We have been holding our coffee hour after Liturgy in the room next door to the church. This seems to be ideal. That makes the church a church and a different location for social activites and meetings. The cost to continue to use this room would be $20 per week for a total rent allocation of $780.00. A motion by Doug Partlo, seconded by Theresa Patterson to rent the extra room for $20 per week. Motion passed unanimously.

Choir Robes & Old Books:
John Batsakis contacted the Salvation Army and they would be willing to accept the choir robes as a donation. A motion by Bob Underwood, seconded by Theresa Patterson to donate the choir robes to the Salvation Army. Motion passed unanimously. John Batsakis offered to take the robes to the Salvation Army. Mr. Batsakis also volunteered to take care of the disposal of the old books that we now have in storage.

Lighting and Electrical Costs:
The electrician has finished installing the wiring to hang the chandlers for a cost of $550.00. To hang the additional chandler will likely cost not more than $200.00. A motion by Karen Kain, seconded by Helen Knapp to authorize this cost to be charged to the capital fund. Motion passed unanimously.

Other Business:
Bob Underwood reported that the Taste of Greece dinner will be held on Thursday, July 24. The venue will be decided at the Parish Council meeting held in February. A brief discussion was held on church etiquette. This mainly concerned how to treat any new visitors. All members were ask to be welcoming and not intrusive.
